Pregnancy Tests
Caris offers free pregnancy tests, with immediate results. Our professional counselors perform the test in a private setting, explain the results to you and answer any questions you may have.
Our lab-quality pregnancy tests are 99% accurate, and can detect pregnancy 7-10 days after conception.
If your test is positive, we can provide you with a confirmation. If your test is negative and your period is late, it could be too early to know for sure. You would be invited to come back in 7-10 days for a retest.
If you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, you may be pregnant:
- Missed Period
- Tender or swollen breasts
- Frequent bathroom use
- Nausea or vomiting
- Being very tired
- Feeling light headed or fainting
- Backaches
- Food cravings or aversions or a change of appetite
If you are pregnant, you will be invited to check out our other services, including ultrasounds
and professional counseling.
Ultrasounds
We offer limited ultrasounds to give you more information about your pregnancy, including how far along you are. At Caris, trained professional sonographers perform all of our ultrasounds. From these preliminary ultrasounds, our staff will be able to tell you how far along you are in your pregnancy, plus help answer questions you may have. If you would like one, you will receive a printout of the sonogram.
Our ultrasounds are available on an as needed basis. Your counselor will work with you to figure out if this service is right for you, and when would be the best time to have it performed.
What is an ultrasound?
Ultrasounds (also called sonograms) are simple, painless diagnostic tests. The tests use sound waves to create images of what’s happening in your uterus to help determine how far along you are in your pregnancy. You may have an ultrasound as early as 6 weeks into a pregnancy – which may help you as you’re still deciding what your next step is going to be. Most women receive an ultrasound from their doctor between 16 and 20 weeks.
Why would I get an ultrasound?
Ultrasounds can help us figure out how far along you are in your pregnancy. Plus, we look for things like an active heartbeat, and where the pregnancy is located to determine if the pregnancy is viable.
Ultrasounds may not be available to you if you have had bleeding or serious cramping within a week before the ultrasound. There are a few other medical reasons not to get an ultrasound. Your counselor will review those with you. Our limited ultrasounds do not determine the sex of the baby.
We will do our best to honor every request for an ultrasound.
How much does an ultrasound cost?
Our ultrasounds are free of charge.
